Solicitors - Are They Allowed & How to Handle
Posted on Apr 7th, 2026

Occasionally, we get reports of solicitors in the area and questions re: whether they are allowed despite the "No Soliciting" signs posted at neighborhood entrances.

Yes, solicitors are allowed a city ordained, protected right to canvas our community because our roads are open to public use. HPD and city officials do not consider the signage at community entrances enforceable and will not ask solicitors to leave unless it's proven they are violating some other homeowner right.

With that said, solicitors are still required to honor "No Soliciting" signs posted on individual homes and to treat residents with respect while here, accepting a homeowners right to say "no", without becoming pushy or aggressive.

You are welcome to contact Security (832.884.8780) when seeing a solicitor so we can gently remind them to be respectful while here and provide a visual deterrent to anyone who may be hiding otherwise ill intentions under the guise of soliciting home services.

If a solicitor becomes aggressive, insulting or a nuisance, please let Security know so they can investigate.
