Holiday Parties vs. Houston's Noise Ordinance: How Loud Can You Be?

Tis the season of parties, gathering and socializing.
While we want you to enjoy celebrating with friends and family, please remember to adhere to Houston's residential noise ordinance.
General noise levels are measured in decibels.
Allowed volumes differ from day to evening:
Day Hours (7am - 10pm): 65 decibels
Night Hours (10pm - 7am) 58 decibels
Day Hours (7am - 10pm): 65 decibels
Night Hours (10pm - 7am) 58 decibels
Loud, unusual or unnecessary noise that disturbs the comfort, repose or peace is always restricted.
Low frequency sound vibrations generated by bass heavy speakers or musical instruments that can be "felt" across property lines are prohibited regardless of time of day or measured decibel levels.
